Job description
Geodis Freight Forwarding – Project Logistics, is one of the 5 products in Freight Forwarding. PL supplies and combines freight services, information management and added value into integrated transport solutions. Focused on the development of key market segments such as Energy, Mining, Power, Military and Defense, Renewables etc. Project Logistics is responsible for all out of gauge and heavy lift cargo movements.
Purpose
The main objective of the Global BD is to develop and secure new opportunities, focused largely on the energy industry, on a Global basis. The focus will predominantly be on new or developing relationships versus House Accounts. Key responsibilities to include:
• Create the global strategy for identified companies in conjunction with the Global Senior Director of Energy, Global SVP and Regional PL Directors.
• Develop and own the relationships with Global Customer(s)
• Drive the value propositions for key targets and personally lead the proposals for the identified must wins
• Work with the Regions on budgets, prospect opportunities and strategic requirements
• Map and apply development strategies to new energy technologies and the movement to renewable energies
• The role is Global, you will be working with 35 dedicated ‘Project Logistics' countries
Key accountabilities
STRATEGY
• To monitor the strategy agreed with PL Head Office and ensure itss application Globally.
• To identify new opportunities / countries for future growth
• To visit clients with the local entities upon confirmation of agreed criteria
• To develop own opportunities, starting from as early as becoming approved forwarder through to handing over wins to implementation
• Own/support RFI's and RFQ's and ensure the bids are completed
• Support regional opportunities in line with rules of engagement
MARKETING
• To take ownership and responsibility of agreed clients, pipelines and ensure prompt / monthly / timely updates
• To research / read and distribute relevant literature
• To define marketing needs (brochures / flyers / conference / fairs / advertising)
• To organize internal and external meetings
• To propose / create new tailor-made products resulting to increase market share in the project market
FINANCE
• To elaborate and propose future budgets to HQ on commercial opportunities
• To reach and exceed the approved financial objectives
• To analyse results, and troubleshoot problem areas
• To investigate / advise necessary investments in assets
REPORTING
• Weekly calls with SVP
• Utilise the CRM system
• To update, review and support the global pipeline
• Provide key target account a monthly ocean report tailored to their needs
Applicant's profile
Experience
• Proven record of business development success, validated by experience listing
• Deep knowledge of energy companies and market, validated by proven contacts
• Must have 10 years freight forwarding experience
• Must have solid operational knowledge, and be able to speak to the operations of the customer
